PASOS Assembly, a Cross-Border Project Development meeting, takes place in Istanbul, 18-21 October 2006

The PASOS Annual Report 2005 is published as more than 90 participants, including more than 60 representatives of policy centres from more than 30 countries, gather in Istanbul for the PASOS annual policy centres conference.

The PASOS Annual Report 2005, including the audited financial statement for 2005, was published to mark the 3rd General Assembly of PASOS (Policy Association for an Open Society), which takes place on 18-21 October 2006.

The conference, entitled A Cross-Border Project Development meeting, is being held in Istanbul, Turkey, and commences on the evening of 18 October with a roundtable debate between policy centres from Turkey, the EU and Central Asia on the theme, Turkey as a Foreign Policy Partner for the EU and Central Asia.

With more than 90 participants from more than 30 countries, representatives of the 26 PASOS members are joined by other think-tanks from South-East Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. In addition, the conference will be attended by representatives of the World Bank, the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia, the Open Society Institute, UNDP, and Brussels think-tanks.

The event includes think-tank development workshops on The Marketing of Ideas and Advocacy Strategies and Standards-setting in Policy Work and Policy Centres’ Governance.

As well as the formal PASOS General Assembly, which includes the election of a new Board of Directors of up to seven members for a two-year term, the event includes a series of project development workshops on:

  • Governance & Democracy
  • European Union accession & the European Neighbourhood Policy
  • Economic Policy & Development
  • Social Policy & Education
