Synopsis

A policy paper for EUROREG Funded under Sixth Framework Programme (Priority 7: Citizens and governance in knowledge based society).

The objective of this paper is to assess the impact of the European regional policy and the European integration of Bulgaria on the political mobilization, social-economic status and the identity perception of two Bulgarian ethno-religious communities – Turks and Muslim Bulgarians (Pomaks). The paper is based on a case study, conducted in the Kardzhali and Smolyan districts of the South Central Region of Bulgaria.
