The Azerbaijani government has approved an electronic privatization system based on recommendations drafted by the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD). CESD unveiled the recommendations at its National Anti-Corruption Conference held in Baku, in February 2011. The recommendations are available for download at the United Nations Public Administration Network. The reforms include the adoption of electronic services to simplify the process of privatizing state property and real estate registrations.
The Belgrade Center for Security Policy (BCSP) has joined two other NGOs to work on policies to improve the position of forced migrants, especially women, young people, and other vulnerable groups. The project — “Networking and Capacity Building for a More Efficient Migration Policy in Serbia” — will be led by Group 484 and will also draw support from is the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights (BCHR). The first expected activity of this project is a training on EU migration management, to be organized for CSO representatives and state employees in April 2012. The project is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The PRAXIS Center for Policy Studies is joining a project to monitor how well Estonian leaders follow through on hundreds of promises made to voters as part of a coalition government agreement adopted last year. PRAXIS’s partners in the project are Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) and the Open Estonia Foundation. The group launched a website in January that will present its findings to the public. Hille Hinsberg, a PRAXIS project manager, told ERR that the goal of the project was not to be confrontational with leaders, but to encourage voters to have a say in how their government is run, according to this ERR report on the project.
