EUROPEUM Director David Král has included his name as part of a group of Czech NGOs and business leaders who have published a statement stating that joining the EU has dramatically improved the country’s economy.
Confident Czech Republic in a strong Europe states that “Czech EU membership is apparently and without much exaggeration the best thing that happened to our country in the last decade.
“We have become part of a community with whom we share the same values of freedom, law and vision of the State that does not seek to govern its citizens but tries to enhance their common well-being. The proximity to the united Europe has helped us to push through important reforms of business, justice or public administration even before joining the EU.”
Král was joined in signing the maifesto by such Czech business figures as Jannis Samaras, president of the executive board at Kofola; Constantin Kinský, director of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants; and Monika Ladmanová, Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs Specialist with IBM. NGO leaders who signed include Robert Basch, director of Nadace Open Society Fund Praha; David Ondráčka, director of Transparency International Czech Republic; and Šimon Pánek, director of People in Need.
