As part of a study of subregional integration in the European Union’s four sea basins, the International Centre for Policy Studies (ICPS) in Ukraine has created a video blog about the project’s findings.
PASOS secretariat, members recall life of Václav Havel
Former Czech President Václav Havel will be remembered as a “guiding light in the essential quest for human dignity and freedom of expression,” according to a statement released by the PASOS Secretariat in Prague. Havel, who worked on various projects associated with PASOS members over the years, died at the age of 75 on 18 December.

CEU creates Vitali Silitski scholarship
Central European University (CEU) in Budapest has announced the creation of a scholarship named in the memory of Vitali Silitski, who was director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS) until his death in June from cancer.
PASOS releases booklets on ethics, quality standards
PASOS has published two guidebooks for think-tanks, one a code of good governance and one based on a set of principles for ensuring quality control over policy work. “Thinking Ethically” and “How to win respect and influence policymakers” were released at the annual PASOS members assembly in Warsaw November 26.
PASOS Assembly elects three new board members
PASOS members representing the network’s think-tanks elected three new policy experts to the association’s board of directors at the group’s annual assembly in Warsaw November 26. The new board members are: Linda Austere of PROVIDUS, Vugar Bayramov of the Center for Social and Economic Development, and Samuel Greene of the Center for the Study of New Media & Society.
PASOS releases 4 policy briefs at annual conference
Four new PASOS policy briefs were released at “Democracy, Partnership, Enlargement – Challenges for Europe, Challenges for the Polish EU Presidency”, the network’s annual policymakers/think-tanks conference 25 November. The papers address such diverse topics as new media, visa liberalisation, the revolutions in North Africa, and the European neighbourhood.
