Representatives of PASOS and the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy held a four-day training seminar in Egypt May 10-13 for Egyptian NGOs. The sessions were part of a program to link reformers in post-Communist countries with Middle East organizations working on reform. The training focused on security-sector reform and capacity-building for think tanks.
This PASOS training seminar, in the Kyrgyz Republic May 28-31, for civil society trainers and public administration officials is taking place as part of the project, Opening the Doors of Policy-Making: Central Asia and South Caucasus, which has been made possible with the financial support of the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF).
A UNDEF-supported PASOS networking conference to forge public-civic coalitions to tackle key policy challenges in Central Asia and South Caucasus including presentation of award for Best Policy Paper by a Policy Fellow.
Held in London on 24-25 May 2010, Communications Strategy for Think-Tanks featured leading think-tank figures from London, as well as journalists and lecturers in journalism and new media.
Democracy, Partnership, Enlargement – Challenges for Europe, Challenges for the Polish EU Presidency
The PASOS/IPA international think-tanks and policymakers’ conference was held in Warsaw, Poland, 25 November 2011. Krzysztof Stanowski, Undersecretary of State for Development and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland. delivered the keynote address.
“Women’s Rights in Egypt: What now?,” a seminar on policy analysis and research, and policy advocacy, marked the first PASOS project to take place in Egypt. Held in Cairo on 28 September 2011, the seminar introduced the PASOS network to representatives of Egyptian NGOs. Two experts from the Center for Research and Policy Making in Macedonia also made presentations on policy analysis, research and advocacy.
“Transparency in Lobbying,” a PASOS policy seminar held at the U.S. Embassy’s American Center in Prague 14 October, 2011, featured a lively panel discussion on ethics, strategy and how lobbying regulation should impact NGOs.
