PASOS Executive Director Jeff Lovitt and Vugar Bayramov of the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), have been named co-chairs of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (CSF).
Lovitt and Bayramov were selected for the positions by their fellow members on the committee, which is the representative body of the Forum. Jan Pieklo of the Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation (PAUCI) is also a member of the committee. The steering committee meets four times per year to develop strategies for future development and to guide the activities of the Forum.
The mandate of the CSF is to influence EU institutions and national governments by presenting the recommendations of the CSF during the decision-making process. The Forum was created as part of a European Commission effort “to support the further development of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)” and “to promote contacts among CSOs and facilitate their dialogue with public authorities.”
Lovitt, who served as the committee’s chair in 2011-2012, is also Coordinator of the Forum’s working group on Democracy, Human Rights, Good Governance & Stability. Bayramov is the Country Facilitator for Azerbaijan. Pieklo is one of the committee’s three EU Coordinators.
