<p>PASOS members elected three new members to the association&#8217;s board of directors at the PASOS annual General Assembly in Berlin 4 November, 2010.</p>
<p>The newly elected Board members are Tevan Poghosyan, Executive Director, International Center for Human Development (ICHD), Armenia; Marija Risteska, Executive Director, Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), Macedonia; and Agnieszka Łada, Head of the European Programme/Researcher, Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), Poland.</p>
<p>Poghosyan has been Executive Director of the ICHD since its was founded in 1999. In 2001, he became the executive of the Armenian Atlantic Association. In 2002, he started lecturing on Conflict Management and Leadership at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. From 1997 to 1999, he served as NKR Public Affairs Office Director in the United States. From 1996 to 1997 he worked at the Central Bank of Armenia in various departments. He graduated from the Political Science Department of the American University of Armenia in 1996 and from the Computer Science Department of Yerevan State Engineering University in 1994.</p>
<p>Risteska holds a PhD in Political Science from Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and Master of Arts in European Public Administration and Public Policy from Katholieke Universitait Leuven. Risteska is the founder of the Center for Research and Policy Making and serves as its Executive Director since 2006.</p>
<p>Łada is a member of the Group of Civil Advisers of the Head of the Council for Foreign Affairs in the Polish Parliament; Team Europe (a group of experts by the Representation of the European Commission in Poland); Copernicus Group, a group of experts on Polish-German Relations. She also is the IPAʼs liason officer in European Policy Institutes Network and Active Citizenship Group by the European Commission.</p>

<p>At the annual General Assembly of PASOS, held in Lviv, Ukraine, on 25 October 2009, four Board vacancies were filled by the election of the members. The newly elected Board members are David Kral, Director of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, Czech Republic, Nicu Popescu, Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), head office UK, Aaron Presnall, Director of Studies at the Jefferson Institute, Serbia, and Olga Shumylo, Director of the International Centre for Policy Studies (ICPS), Ukraine.</p>
<p>The new Board members, elected from a field of nine candidates, join three other Board members who remain on the Board: Dace Akule, Researcher, Centre for Public Policy PROVIDUS, Latvia, Igor Munteanu, Director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) &#8220;Viitorul&#8221;, Moldova, and George Tarkhan-Mouravi, co-Director of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), Georgia.</p>

<p>The PASOS annual meeting was held in conjunction with New Strategies, Shifting Challenges, a PASOS international think-tanks&#8217; conference, including panel discussions on the challenges facing think-tanks in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and working with key donors from the Open Society Institute Think Tank Fund and the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative (LGI) of the Open Society Institute (OSI) to assess the most effective ways to address the needs of independent policy centres in the region. The conference was held in association with another conference, entitled <strong>For Our Freedom and Yours: For Our Common Future</strong>, held in Lviv on 25-27 October 2009 in association with NED (National Endowment for Democracy), Democratic Initiatives Foundation, and Tovarystvo Leva. The conference marked the 20th anniversary of the end of the cold war, and included a PASOS panel on International Responsibility to Tackle Instability in the EU&#8217;s Neighbourhood.</p>
<p>The PASOS Annual Report 2007/2008 was launched at the event in Lviv, including financial reports for the years 2007 and 2008, details of key PASOS seminars and conferences setting the agenda for sustainable, values-driven foreign policies, PASOS member&#8217; projects on subjects ranging from populism and liberal democracy in Central and Eastern Europe, to EU development co-operation policy and democracy assistance policies, to fellowship programmes for Georgian, Ukrainian and Russian policymakers, to parliamentary accountability in the Black Sea region, an assessment study on monitoring European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENPI) funding in Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, visa liberalistion in the western Balkans, modelling a civil society forum for the EU&#8217;s Eastern Partnership initiative, and the integration of immigration in Latvia and Poland.</p>
