Three PASOS members part of V4 study project
Three PASOS members have joined a consortium of think tanks working on a project to use the experiences of the Visegrad 4 countries to assist Balkan countries with aspirations of European integration.
The Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (Slovakia), the Institute of Public Affairs (Poland) and the Association for International Affairs (Czech Republic) are joining with Center for EU Enlargement Studies in Hungary for the project, which is called “Online platform on the EU accession experiences of the V4 countries.”
The project, which is being funded by the International Visegrad Fund, aims to 1) learn from and identify V4 best practices; 2) share these lessons with current and prospective EU candidates in the Western Balkans. To ensure that the lessons reach the widest audience, the consortium plans to create an online platform which will remain available after the end of the project in December 2013.
The project’s starting point is the political component of the Copenhagen criteria: stability of the institutions safeguarding democracy, rule of law, human rights, respect for and protection of minorities. Research results about the Visegrad countries will be compiled in a booklet that will contain all the information to be uploaded on the platform.
