PASOS opens call for Skills Development Fellowships

PASOS is inviting participants who took part in the network’s Skills Development Training event in Istanbul in June to apply for fellowships to be served at think-tanks based in the EU. Fellows from the eight target countries – one from each – will be supported through distance learning provided by an experienced mentor to develop their work in one of the well-established independent think-tanks operating in the European Union. “Opening the Doors of Policy-Making in the South Caucasus and Central Asia” launches with Istanbul training

Azerbaijani program manager Farid Seyidov has a new project waiting for him at home.

“I would like to design … a training to teach my people what I learned here,” Seyidov said of training sessions he attended June 2-3 in Istanbul at the first event of Opening the Doors of Policy-Making in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. “Especially the business plan.”

The PASOS program, funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund, seeks to empower civil society organizations and to enhance public participation in public policy development in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It aims to strengthen CSOs, foster regional networking, and promote sustained dialogue with policymakers. Read more …

Held in London on 24-25 May 2010, Communications Strategy for Think-Tanks featured leading think-tank figures from London, as well as journalists and lecturers in journalism and new media.
