Transatlantic Сommunity versus Eurasia – Arising Challenges and New Opportunities

PASOS is a partner in the Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation’s (PAUCI) international conference on Eastern policy issues, “Transatlantic Сommunity versus Eurasia – Arising Challenges and New Opportunities”.
The December 15 conference in Warsaw will focus on new issues confronting European security, and analyzing them in the context of transatlantic and global dimensions. Such debates are crucial for solving the crisis which started with the annexation of Crimea and the full scale Russian-Ukrainian war in Eastern Ukraine, according to a PAUCI statement.
Mustafa Abduldzhemil Dzhemilev, former chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, has been invited to deliver the keynote address.
Three panel discussions featuring experts from Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Poland, and the United States are scheduled.
PASOS Executive Director Jeff Lovitt will be moderating a panel on “Evaluation of EU and U.S. response to the crisis and dynamics of Russia-West relations”.
Grzegorz Gromadzki, an analyst with PASOS member the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), will be on a panel moderated by Jacek Kucharczyk, also of IPA, discussing “Short and long term prospects of developments in Eastern Partnership region and its relations with EU and U.S.”
Ghia Nodia of the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development, a PASOS member in Georgia, will be on a panel topic discussing “Developments in Eastern Partnership region in 2013/2014 with a special attention to the situation in Ukraine after Euromaidan”.
Opening speeches will be delivered by Konrad Pawlik, director of the Eastern Department with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, and Andrii Deshchytsia, the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland.
The forum is is being held under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland and in cooperation with the Heinrich Boell Stiftung, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Foundation for the Polish-German Cooperation, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, PASOS, and the European Academy of Diplomacy.
